PRESIDENT AND CEO
Dr. Ford combines deep technical expertise with venture creation and technology commercialization experience. From 2012-2017, Dr. Ford served as an expert consultant on technology commercialization and technical advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Key results have been developing embedded accelerator programs for early stage technology developed at DOE Labs, risk assessments for start ups, creation of a virtual innovation ecosystem and database, and an inclusive innovation ecosystem design for technology commercialization. Dr. Ford has advised more than 40 technology commercialization projects, built a national technology commercialization program, and has incubated more than 24 patent portfolios via custom "lab-to-market" business incubator programs.
Dr. Ford received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) where his technical expertise spans fuel cell and battery technology, advanced clean coal power plant design and development, thermodynamic optimization of energy systems, and energy system modeling and simulation. Additionally, Dr. Ford earned certificates in engineering entrepreneurship and technology commercialization, and was a National Science Foundation funded TI:GER (Technological Innovation Generating Economic Results) fellow at Georgia Tech. Dr. Ford holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Morehouse College, and B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech.
Dr. Ford has been a researcher at the Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Lab and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center. Applications of his research span energy efficient microchip design, high efficiency hybrid fuel cell-gas turbine power plant, artificial intelligence based design of solid oxide fuel cells, and unmanned undersea vehicles.
